You spent forty years earning it. The next thirty are about spending it well.

Most people heading toward retirement carry the same quiet worry: will the money last? It shows up as spreadsheets started and abandoned, super statements skimmed and filed, and conversations that stop at “we should really look into that.”

This seminar is where you look into it. In one evening, we cover the questions that matter: how much you actually need, where your retirement income will come from, whether the age pension will be part of the picture, and how to spend in retirement without the constant fear of running out.

No jargon. No product pitch. Just the numbers, the rules and the strategies, explained by people who work with them every day.

The retirement gap

The gap between what people have and what they need is real

What sets MBC apart is the seamless collaboration between our bookkeeping and accounting teams. This partnership ensures that your financial records are not only accurate but also a powerful tool for strategic decision-making.

$ 0

a year for a comfortable retirement — couple who own their home.

$ 0

a year for a comfortable retirement — single person.

$ 0

roughly what the full age pension pays a couple, combined.

That difference has to come from somewhere: super, investments, or working longer than planned. The good news is that the earlier you see the gap clearly, the more options you have to close it. That is exactly what this seminar is designed to show you.

What we’ll cover

Six big questions, answered in plain English

01

How much is enough?

What retirement actually costs, where your income will come from (super, age pension, annuities, investments), and how to spend with confidence instead of fear.

02

How do I make the most of super before I retire?

Salary sacrifice, lump sum contributions, and how to protect yourself if the market drops right before you finish work.

03

Will I get the age pension?

How the income and assets tests really work, strategies to improve or keep your eligibility, and the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.

04

How do I manage money once I’ve retired?

Choosing investments, balancing defensive and growth assets, and how annuities and lifetime income streams can give you an income you can’t outlive.

05

What happens to my super when I die?

Who can receive it, how it’s taxed, and why your will alone doesn’t decide.

06

What if I need aged care?

What a move into aged care means for your home, your pension and your family.

Questions people ask

Is this a sales pitch?

No. The seminar provides general information to help you understand your options. There’s nothing to buy on the night. If you’d like to talk about your own situation afterwards, you can book a conversation with MBC separately.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself. If you’d like to get more from the evening, a rough idea of your super balance and any other savings will help you apply what you hear.

Can I bring my partner or a family member?

Yes, please do. Just include them when you book so we can plan seating and catering. Drinks and nibbles are on us.

What if I register and can’t make it?

No problem. It’s a free event, but a quick cancellation through Eventbrite means someone on the waitlist gets your seat.

The best time to plan your retirement was ten years ago. The second best time is Wednesday 9 September.
